10/26/2002 - Lessons, lessons and more lessons
So yea, I'm taking lessons. I've only been playing for 4 whole days now. I told the instructor to start me off at absolute basics, even with music theory. I've been out of formal training long enough to need a refresher! So he did. Here is the first lesson that they (PGS) sent me: Chords - Parts one and two... Basically I just learn 6 major open chords (consequently these are major chords as well), E, A, D, F, C and G. With those six chords, you would be surprised how many songs you can play. This lesson is supposed to take two weeks to master, and it's looking like that's gonna be just about right. As an aside, I had to learn a few other chords on my own to play a few songs (or try) that I like. These were F#7, Bm, Am, Em, and D6/7(m means minor of course). My first song... America - Horse With No Name - Two chords (for the most part) during the entire song. The only really hard part was getting the strumming down right! You have to listen to the song to know what I mean. |
