Installing a Vacuum Pump
In order to get the airplane to the ultimate goal of IFR certification, we need a vacuum pump to replace the venturi system that came stock on our airplane. After doing lots of research, it's come to my attention that the 1958 175's came with that option actaully, so it makes installing on trivial. Apparently, Garwin and Pesco were the companies of the time that made the pumps for these aircraft.

The vacuum pump itself mounts on the front of the GO-300A/B/C models on the starboard side, next to the gearbox. We have the A model engine, so that's what we'll use... The baffling will most certainly have to be redone in this area to allow for the room. Also with the installation of the pump, which is of the wet variety, we need to install an oil/air separator as well. This is a very good thing, as the breather line can also be run through the sep, and thus should cut down on the amount of belly oil we get by a good percentage.

Aircraft Spruce lists the wetpumps that were standard for that model year, and the Pesco 194 model is the one that should be used (with the 12 spline drive).

Rebuild the accessory case
Since the engine will be off the engine mount while the plane is being repainted, that gives us a good time to work on the engine in places that we couldn't easily access before. The plan is to take the accessory case off and rebuild (new gaskets and such), as well as to rebuild both the starter and the generator.

Powdercoat various parts
Again, while the motor is off it's mount, I can go ahead and powder coat the engine mount and any other little parts up there that would look better with a make-over. I do this work myself, and am currently in the process of starting up a part-time powder coat operation, so anyone that need any work done, just give me the word.
